Alice Jeavons joined Sharratts in January 2019 having already worked closely with our team when she completed a week of work experience in August 2017. Whilst studying Law at the University of Liverpool, Alice showed a keen interest in family matters, writing her dissertation on unmarried father’s rights to parental responsibility as she achieved a 2:1 with honours.
She has now been a senior caseworker at Sharratts for over a year, where her primary role is to ensure our team of solicitors' case files are running effectively. Often drafting statements and applications for our solicitors, her administrative support is integral in us continuing to offer the best service and focus to our clients.
It became apparent very quickly that Alice was a natural advocate for families and we quickly enrolled Alice onto a part time course at Staffordshire University from September 2019 to ensure that she is supported through to becoming a fully qualified solicitor. It is a long journey for any solicitor to become qualified (after completing A Levels there is a 3 year law degree followed by a year’s legal practice course and then a 2 year training contract) but it is even longer and harder when doing the final stages on a part time basis and alongside a fulltime job in such a stressful environment. However Alice is a natural and is enjoying her time both on the job and at University.
We are hoping that Alice will commence a training contract in 2021 and that she follows in the footsteps of our newly qualified solicitor, Jacyn Richardson.
Until then, Alice will remain a key part of our unit providing vital assistance to our team of solicitors.
